My brother in law said that hig gv70 got an update recently and since he got notified he did it ota style. I checked into this and mine is eligible for the upgrade but I haven't received the notification. There is a mention of doing it manually, which is what I wanted to ask. Is it safe to do it manually or should I wait for the automatic one? I don't want to do something stupid that could cost me a lot of money.

As long as you follow the steps from Genesis, you shouldn't have any problems and screw something up. With that said, there's always some risk, so I see where you're coming from. You can ask your dealer or if you're in no rush you can wait for the ota uprade

Yep, manually installing the update is generally safe. Download the official update via Genesis's updater (put it on a FAT32/USB stick), then go to Settings > General > Software Update in the car and install it. You can do it!

true, lots of Genesis owners (and other car brands) do it this way, especially if the OTA (Over-The-Air) notification is dragging its feet

I experienced something similar with my old G80. The OTA update took ages, so I decided to do the USB update on my own. It was really straightforward as long as you stick to the guide. Everything went smoothly with no problems at all.
