Pesky break noise in reverse

My '23 GV70 3.5T Sport Prestige has been great except for the brakes that chirp or squeak every time I back up. The dealer waved it off but I'm wondering if anyone else with this model has found a fix for this.

Weird, I have the 22 model and I haven't had any issues with this. Does it brake well or you're having problems with that as well?

Good to know your '22 is quiet @Averagebloke Makes me think this ain't normal. Brakes feel strong, no issues stopping. Just this annoying chirp in reverse that's driving me nuts.

Yep mine does the same thing — seems to be a common issue with the GV70. Some owners had luck with a brake pad swap or cleaning the rotors, but results vary. Definitely annoying, especially when it's a new car.

I knew it had to be a common thing! Helpful info about the pad swap and rotor cleaning. Did you try different pads yourself or know which brand works best? @Haven David

Glad it helped! I've tried a few, Ceramic pads from Akebono worked best for me: quiet, low dust, and good performance.

I spent some time researching the Akebono ceramic pads for the GV70 this past week. Based on your positive experience with them I'm going to order a set to try and solve this issue. Did you replace your rotors at the same time or just install the new pads?
